The Crows

The jet black crows,

Call out to one another –

A soulful song they sing.

When you hear them,

A certain number –

A message to you they bring.

‘One for sorrow –

Two for mirth’ –

The old saying has a ring!

‘Three for wedding,

Four for a birth ‘ –

This rhyme, to you, will cling.

For everytime,

You see these birds –

You will count out your messaging.

Direct or indirect –

The message is meant for you,

Brought by crows on a wing.

About Dawn Marie Paone DiMartino

I had lived most of my youth in New York, but have been a native of Florida for over 20+ years. I am recently remarried, a mother of 4 adult children, 5 grandchildren, and a retired analyst. My passion for writing and drawing started at a very early age. I have continued through my adult life taking a pen to hand and compiling my innermost thoughts, feelings and expressions on paper. My writing and drawing keep me in a calming frame of mind when I am putting it all down. Some/Most of my writings can tell you about my personal story. I have published a 4 poetry books, 3 children's books, and have been involved in 4 anthologies.
