Samhain

Samhain is almost here,
This is my favorite time.
The day when I can be myself,
And no one seems to mind.

A day of ‘trick or treats’ –
You will see a ghoul or two.
With the thinning of the Veil,
A ghost or two may slip through.

If the moon is full and high –
To those like me, this is good news.
Rituals, potions, and chants times three –
Bonfires burn to thwart negative ruse.

A day of open speak –
Unanswered questions breeze in on truth.
Spell casting will be a specialty –
Honoring those that came and went well before you.

However you choose to see this day,
Whatever you choose to do –
Whichever name you choose to call it –
Samhain is a part if you.

About Dawn Marie Paone DiMartino

I had lived most of my youth in New York, but have been a native of Florida for over 20+ years. I am recently remarried, a mother of 4 adult children, 5 grandchildren, and a retired analyst. My passion for writing and drawing started at a very early age. I have continued through my adult life taking a pen to hand and compiling my innermost thoughts, feelings and expressions on paper. My writing and drawing keep me in a calming frame of mind when I am putting it all down. Some/Most of my writings can tell you about my personal story. I have published 4 poetry books, 3 children's books, and have been involved in 4 anthologies.
